Gilberto M Hinojosa: Dr. Gilberto M. Hinojosa is Professor Emeritus in the History Department at the University of the Incarnate Word, where he served, beginning in 1993, as Dean of the College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences and of the School of Graduate Studies. Prior to that, he had taught at the University of Texas at San Antonio. He has a M.A. from St. Mary’s University and a doctorate from the University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Hinojosa has been author and editor-and-contributor of three books, including Tejano Origins in Eighteenth Century San Antonio, and has published articles and reviews in several state, regional, and national journals. Most of his scholarly work focuses on the formation of communities and cultural interaction. He has written on the San Antonio missions and on Mexican Americans and the Catholic Church.
