Dr.  Gilberto M. Hinojosa is Professor Emeritus in the History Department at the University of the Incarnate Word, where he continues to teach part time and serves on the Mission and Ministry Committee.  He also participates in the Faith Formation programs at St. Brigid’s Catholic Community and in the Instituto Formación Pastoral at the Oblate School of Theology.

Dr. Hinojosa has been author and editor-and-contributor of three books, has published articles and reviews in several state, regional, and national journals, and has organized the Francisco Yturria archives. Most of his scholarly work focuses on the formation of communities and cultural interaction.  He has written on the San Antonio missions and on Mexican Americans and the Catholic Church.

Beginning in 1993, Dr. Hinojosa served as Dean of the College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences and of the School of Graduate Studies at the University of Incarnate Word.  Prior to that, he had taught at the University of Texas at San Antonio.  He has a M.A. from St. Mary’s University and a doctorate from the University of Texas at Austin.
